NMI Approved PalletScan

Scale Components has recently announced the launch of the new, PalletScan Dimensioning System designed for transportation, distribution and logistics installations where pallets are weighed, cubed and tracked.

The PalletScan system is pattern (type) approved for legal trade measurement by the Australian National Measurement Institute (NMI). NMI approval of the PalletScan system is understood to be the first legal for trade approval of a pallet dimensioning system by an internationally recognized measurement authority anywhere in the world.

According to Ray Chappelow, Product Manager, Scale Components, PalletScan is an automatic data capture system that dimensions pallets and other oversize items. PalletScan is typically used with a generic floor or pallet scale, barcode scanning and other peripheral equipment to provide a pallet identification and measurement solution.

“The PalletScan system can process multi-piece shipments - pallets of the same or random size, initiate pallet tracking tasks and transfer the collected dimensional and weight data directly to the customers host processing system. Appropriate dimension-based shipping charges can then be applied.” Mr Chappelow said.

. The seamless integration of the PalletScan enables the system to suit most production environments. With advanced laser technology for accurate measuring of length, height and width the PalletScan has +/- 1 cm accuracy for reliable and repeatable pallet measurement.

The PalletScan has been designed to be used with generic floor scales, barcode label scanning and printing devices and can be incorporated to create a turnkey cubing, weighing and tracking workstation. The PalletScan is NMI approved and can be configured as a static or dynamic system in various configurations to suit each customers needs. Automated and semi-automated ceiling, floor, wall mounted and conveyor options are available.
